First, you have to open ‘Control Panel’. You will be prompted to enter the local information which is used while dialling phone numbers. In the ‘Local Information’ window, enter the information about the appropriate location of your computer. If you have to dial a number to obtain the connection, then enter the number into the appropriate box before clicking ‘OK’.
Phone and Modem Options
The Sony VAIO Z Series laptop has built-in modem that makes data sharing feasible. In the ‘Phone and Modem’ option screen, select the ‘Modem’ tab and check whether your modem is displayed in the list. If your modem is already installed, then skip ahead to the section for configuring the network software. Else, click on ‘Add’ to start the Add Hardware Wizard.
By clicking the ‘Next’ button in the ‘Add Hardware’ window, your operating system will start searching for the modem. If your modem is detected successfully, you will see a message saying that your PC has found new hardware. After installing the modem driver, this message will be replaced by “Hardware is installed and ready to use”. The Add Hardware Wizard will display a screen telling you that the installation was successful. Click on ‘Finish’ to close the wizard.
