Guidelines to restore Windows XP
To begin the process of restoring your Windows operating system software back to its previous state, click start on the Taskbar, point to all programs and select accessories. In the popup menu that appears, click on the system tools and then, click on the system restore. Alternatively, you can type the 'restore' in the run dialogue box and in the new window that appears, double click on 'rstrui'. In the system restore window that appears, two options are presented to you on how to carry out the process, i.e. restore my computer to an earlier time and create a restore point. The former provides you with possible dates when changes such as software install or uninstall were carried out. Click on the date that you want the system to revert to and click 'next' to begin the process. The latter enables you to type a description for your restore point, but it has to be something that is easy to recognize in case, there is a need to restore the PC at a later time. Click next to begin the procedure.
Things to keep in mind while doing so
It is worth noting that the procedure does not in any way recover previously deleted files or affects the state of your PC. It functions in undoing some of the changes that may have been made to the system registry as a result of recent software install or uninstall. In addition, it is recommended that you backup data deemed as vital before undertaking the process in case the unforeseen problem occurs.
To avoid every user that accesses your PC from installing and removing programs unnecessarily, enable administrator password authentication. This will limit the changes being made to the system both by other users and malicious applications while online.
