Screen missing colors
Sometimes when you start up your laptop the video does come on but the resolution might have changed and the color depth of the screen might not be the fullest. This is usually caused due to the video adapter not working properly or missing drivers of video adapter. In this case, there is nothing wrong with the display of the laptop and installing the drivers for the video adapter will fix this problem.
No Display in LCD
Sometimes there might not be any display coming in the laptop screen. However, the laptop will be up and running. The problem might be with the display adapter that handles the video. The hardware component i.e. the video adapter might have failed causing no display to come up. In such a case there might be very little you can do, the only thing that can be done is to take the computer to the nearest authorized service centre and get it replaced or repaired.
Another reason for no display coming up in the screen might be because of bad connectors to the screen. The laptop screen is connected to the main board via a series of wires that go through the hinges of the laptop. The wires are cluttered inside the hinges, this setup is cumbersome and even a violent movement can damage the wires. If the wires that supply power or video to the laptop screen is damaged, no display will come up. In such cases take your Sony VAIO to the nearest Sony authorized service centre and get it repaired.
Sometimes the screen of the laptop will go dim while running, if this happens you will hardly be able to see anything. This can happen when you are booting the computer up. This is a hardware issue entirely and no software modification can solve this problem. The only way you can bring back the laptop screen to full brightness is by turning the screen on and off repeatedly. The problem might be with the voltage inverter or backlight. Taking the laptop to an authorized service center and getting the voltage inverter or backlight serviced is a possible solution.
