Install Windows® XP® In Sony® VAIO W Series
Sony VAIO W Series PCs comprises of Intel Atom processors, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 250 GB hard disk and 10.1” VAIO display. System usually comes with preinstalled Genuine Microsoft Windows 7 Starter edition. You can install Windows XP also as the system supports it. For installing Windows XP you should have a licensed copy of Windows XP Home Edition or Windows XP Professional Operating System. If Windows XP service pack is already existing in your system, the new OS you are going to install must contain same or higher version of Windows XP. You will have to be very careful while installing new OS. There are always chances to lose data.

Create Recovery media kit
Sony PCs are provided with a VAIO Recovery Wizard, which allows you to save original factory-installed software in your system. Sometimes manufacturer provides a recovery disc with the system itself. If your system is not provided with recovery disc or you would not able to create recovery disc with your system. You could ask help in Sony Online support website.
Download Driver Updates
You can download and check for the factory installed driver updates for your system on manufacturer website. You will have to check and download updates for the drivers which are newly installed over the factory installed drivers. You can also possibly store the driver packages in any other hard drive partition which does not include Operating System and also you should make sure not to remove partition while installing OS.
Before installing new Operating System you need to download the Sony shared Library from the website. That contains the list of original factory installed software in your system. After installing Operating System you will be required to install VAIO applications in your system. You can store Sony Shared Library with other backup files on a CD-R or CD-RW disc.
