Reasons behind the setup configuration being disabled
There are several reasons behind disabling the setup in Sony VAIO® F series. It should be known to all that interfering with the setup configuration can lead to severe damage in your computer. Your computer can also crash because of it. There are some alterations which can block your computer from formatting. Fixing these types of error is very difficult sometimes and a lot of time is taken by it. So, for preventing these things, the setup configurations are kept locked. In many cases we can see that the administration password is enabled and it does not allow you to work with the set up configuration. If the service tag value has been changed with the modification of the setup configuration, the company will be not responsible for any damages occurred with the laptop. User will lose the warranty. So, for these reasons Sony has disabled the setup configuration in the Sony VAIO® F series laptops.
How to fix this?
For changing the boot sequence of your laptop as per your choice and need you are required to surf the internet and find the ‘dst-cd iso’ software. There are many websites where one can get this software. You just need to download it and copy it to a CD or a DVD. After completing this task the user should boot the laptop with the CD or DVD. When the Sony boot screen will appear, F12 key should be pressed immediately. A boot menu will come to the screen and you need to change the pre selected option to ‘Boot from CD’ option if it is not configured in this way. After that we can change or delete the service tags and can reboot the laptop. When the service tags will be removed or disabled the BIOS password will also be removed automatically.
We can get the detailed specifications of a laptop by its service tag in the setup configuration. So, if the tag value is altered or deleted then the there will be no use of warranty any more. The company will not take the warranty as valid if the service tag is void. So, the user should be very careful at the time of accessing the setup configurations. Another thing should be kept in mind that the service tag should be restored to the original value after doing the whole work.
