With battery life longer than ever before, each E Series laptop equips up to 8GB DDR3 RAM, optical drive (DVD burner/Blu-ray player/or Blu-ray burner), and 802.11b/g/n wireless and gigabit ethernet.
One attribute that makes the entire range of Sony VAIO E Series laptops handy and a reasonable option to consider is the built-in Bluetooth. The Bluetooth feature allows you to wirelessly connect with devices like headset, smartphone, or external hard drive. The option to turn on Bluetooth is available in the ‘SmartWi Connection Utility’.

      1. Look for the wireless switch located on the front left side of the laptop and turn it on (slide it to the right).
      2. Once you do, the SmartWi Connection Utility pops up automatically. If it does not, go to “Start> All Programs> VAIO SmartWi Connection Utility” to access it.
      3. You can click the ‘Bluetooth’ button on this utility to access the Bluetooth Settings option.

      Hope it helped.

For the request to be detected, make sure Bluetooth is enabled on the VAIO. You can refer to the steps given above to do so. Then, try to send another request. Let us know if you face any problems while enabling it.

I followed your instructions for a Sony Vaio VPCEG, and unfortunately there was no Bluetooth option next in the wireless settings. Does this mean that the computer does not have Bluetooth pre-installed?
    Thanks for your help.

It should have the ‘SmartWi Connection Utility’ pre-installed.

      - Turn on the wireless switch located on the front left side of the laptop by sliding it to the right.
      - When you do that, the SmartWi Connection Utility pops up automatically. If it does not, go to “Start> All Programs> VAIO SmartWi Connection Utility” to access it.
      - Click the ‘Bluetooth’ button on it to access the Bluetooth settings.

Hope that helped. Let us know in either case.
