Software malfunctioning due to corrupted RAM
You might come across this issue in notebooks with Windows Vista® operating system. This occurs due to ill-functioning of corrupted software applications. In order to resolve this issue, restart the system in ‘Safe Mode’ and disconnect all peripheral devices connected to the notebook. Now, uninstall additional third-party RAM card. Replace the additional RAM modules with the modules that were originally installed in VAIO CW notebook series.
Non-recognition of memory
If the OS installed in the notebook is of 32-bit, the amount of RAM is reported to be smaller. This is because the 32-bit OS can generate only 4 GB of memory. Some of the memory will be used by hardware components. Therefore, if the installed RAM is greater than or equal to memory, the OS will report a smaller amount of available memory. Hence, in order to view actual memory size, click on All Programsà VAIO® Central optionà Categoriesà and System Information. The available memory will be displayed in this section.
VAIO Hardware Diagnostics utility helps you to detect the hardware problems with your notebooks. To run the utility, close all other programs and open ‘VAIO Recovery Center’ application. Now, choose the program that is not functioning and run ‘VAIO Hardware Diagnostics’. Click on ‘Run Test’ option from ‘Quick Test’ tab. Start ‘VAIO Recovery Center’ in ‘Individual Test’ tab. This helps in preventing many hardware issues.
