Sony® plays a major role in iPhone® 4S
Whenever any Apple gadget hits the market, it is destined to earn huge popularity. People across the globe wait for new launches from Apple. The latest from the Apple family is the Apple iPhone 4S which is grabbing all the limelight.
The all new Apple iPhone 4S, with an array of features, is expected to sell like hot cakes. However, this time, it is not just Apple that is going to bag the rewards of success. Japanese Electronics giant, Sony is also in the same run since Apple has chosen Sony for a touted advancement in the new version of the iPhone, the powerful 8 mega pixel camera.
Sony CEO Howard Stringer hinted that his company was gearing up to supply Apple with the parts. "It always puzzles me," Stringer said initially, while he proposed the venture by Apple. "Why would I make Apple the best camera?"
Well, as the venture initiated, there were numerous speculations surrounding the supply of the camera to Apple. These are now confirmed and clarified. The new and advanced camera of the iPhone 4S is known to feature much improved optics compared to the conventional ones with 73% more light for the lens and an output of sharper and crisper images. A video output of 1080p HD is also provided by the power packed camera.
Chipworks, a research firm confirmed the reports by revealing that markings on the camera reveal that Sony is the manufacturer. They said, “What you see are the die markings on the base layer of the image sensor," the company said about an X-Ray image of the chip, it produced. "The image isn't beautiful, but it's enough to tell us that Sony is in our particular iPhone 4S."
Apple has been sourcing various components of its phones from multiple vendors, which also include Samsung. By sourcing the camera, Apple has also paved the way for Sony to gain much of the limelight.
