Sony® World Photography Awards 2012 open for entries
If you are a budding photographer and looking for a platform for flaunting your talent, there is an opportunity awaiting for you. Sony World Photography Awards 2012 is now open for entries, as declared by the World Photography Organization (WPO).
Sony World Photography - The exclusive photography competition invites photographers and enthusiasts from across the globe to submit their pictures to compete. The awards are distinguished into five categories - Youth, Moving, Image, Open and Big Professional. The Big Professional category is further segregated into 15 varied categories under three genres including Commercial, Fine Art, Documentary and Photo Journalism. If you are a member of WPO, then you can upload three photographs for free.
Categories which are included for the first time are Big Professional and Open categories. The Nature & Wildlife sub-category is introduced as a part of the Professional category and and Enhanced, Split Second and Low - Light is added to the Open category. The best entries will win a grand prize of $25,000 and a golden opportunity to become the Sony World Photography Awards Professional Photographer of the Year. The entries will close on January, 4, 2012 preceding the ceremony in London to announce the winners.
Commenting on the Sony World Photography Awards 2012, Scott Gray, Managing Director of the World Photography Organization, said: “The 2011 competitions generated entries from a huge international community. By refreshing the Awards for 2012 we aim to keep the Awards dynamic and pertinent to both photographers around the world and to those who consume photography whether in professional capacity or otherwise.
