PSP E-1000, the New PSP Model by Sony®
Gamescom conference was held in Cologne, where Sony announced the launch of a new PlayStation Portable (PSP) model, named PSP E-1000. Its price is expected to be 99 Euros, which is much more affordable than other PSP models available in the market. This PSP model will be available by autumn, this year.
Unlike PSP Go, which plays only digital download titles, PSP E-1000 has a UMD drive which can play all PSP disc-based games. You will be able to download titles on this device by connecting your PC through the Media Go Service from Sony. PSP E-1000, will be available to the consumers in matte black finish.
Wi-Fi connectivity will be absent from this model, It is also expected to be a little heavier than other PSPs.
Sony is also releasing a hi-spec successor, PS Vita, which has already sold more than 71 million units around the world. Some are confused about why Sony needs to launch E-1000, as the PS Vita is much more advanced and feature-rich than the former. The reason behind this is perhaps that Sony wants to be easily accessible to almost all classes of users, including those who cannot afford to purchase a PlayStation Vita.
At the conference, the company also announced a price cut in its PlayStation 3. The UK RRP price will fall to £215 for a 320GB model and £199 for a 160GB model. These steps are an indication that Sony is trying to become more affordable to the common masses.
