Sony Ericsson has launched an app for Android-based devices (version 2.1 or higher) that lets you to view the multimedia content on a bigger screen. The app, vscreens, uses the QR (Quick Response) code technology that lends it a completely simplified approach for media sharing. After you install the app from the Android Market, all you need is a browser-enabled screen (such as Google TV, laptops, desktop PCs, etc.) so that you can point the browser to 'vscreens.com' for the smartphone app to work. Once connected to the website, you have to scan the code on the larger screen with your Android-powered smartphone and you get started.
The vscreens app can be seen as a very innovative application from Sony Ericsson, as it immediately eliminates the various requisites of media sharing. The application works even when there is no DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance), Windows file sharing, or SMB (Server Message Block) feature support on the larger screen. In addition to this, you can do away with Bluetooth pairing or Wi-Fi configurations as well. The vscreens app can be used without the need for your Android-based smartphone and screen browser to share the same network. It is absolutely a plain app for unlimited media sharing, without fumbling for cables to plug in.
Sony Ericsson has launched this app as a beta version. Therefore, it is open to your feedback at vscreens.com. There is a list of FAQs, too.
