Sony Ericsson has introduced some unique task creators called Xperia SmartTags for Android-powered devices. These NFC (Near Field Communications)-based mini programs are specifically designed for a range of Sony Ericsson smartphones that were launched during the CES 2012.
These Xperia SmartTags are nothing but tiny programmable tokens that allot tasks to your phone as per your needs. Each tag comprises a NFC chip that communicates with the same chip in the phone to perform a particular task. You can do all this by just swiping the phone over the tag. Whether you want to change the profile, activate alarm, adjust the ringtone, or activate GPS, there are many tasks that you can assign to these Xperia SmartTags accordingly. You can use these programs at suitable locations, such as car, office, bedroom, or any other place as per your needs.
Representatives at Sony said during CES, “Consumers should expect a second-quarter release and a price point around $30 for a set of four tokens, which will work with any NFC-equipped smartphone. Those interested in programmable NFC tokens should check out the NFC Task Launcher website, which offers information on how to make these on your own for much less money.”
There is also a special LiveWare Manager app to manage these tags. The users can also choose the tags according to the colors, including Black, Blue, Red, and White. You can purchase these four tags at a price of $30. As of now, these Xperia SmartTags are only compatible with the Sony Ericsson Xperia S Series smartphones.
