Sony Ericsson has finally become Sony Mobile Communications. Last year in October 2011, Sony intended to buy Sony Ericsson in October 2011; and later at CES 2012, announced its plans to rename Sony Ericsson as Sony Mobile Communications.
On 15th February 2011, Sony officially bought 50% share of Sony Ericsson. This makes Sony Ericsson totally under the control of Sony.
Sony will gain agreement comprising of IP cross-licensing agreement and ownership of five essential patent families. The deal is done on behalf of cash payment of EUR 1.05 billion, which will be paid to Sony Ericsson. The current merger will result in providing wireless connectivity to provide connectivity across multiple platforms.
The company will be managed by Bert Nordeberg, who has been serving as CEO of Sony Ericsson since September 2009. It will launch Xperia S as the first offering from this new company. Let’s hope this acquisition will increase the popularity of Experia smartphones when it comes in alliance with Sony.
