Review of Sony® BDP-S780 Blu-Ray Player
Sony BDP-S780 is the most recent Blu-ray player launched by Sony. In the review below, we discuss its pros and cons.
The BDP-S780 is the latest Blu-ray player from Sony that has come out in the market this year. It is an enhanced version of the BDP-S770. The addition of Skype and Super Bit Mapping makes up for the absence of some of the earlier features. However, all the prominent features like 3D playback, Wi-fi connectivity, DLNA compliance and video streaming have been retained and the audio/video performance has been enhanced.
The Blu-ray player consists of a hand-picked selection of Internet apps plus a web browser. You have the option of converting 2D into 3D and you can adjust the latter's settings. However, the video converted to 3D still resembles a 2D one. Moreover, the browser does not have the capability to play a video.
The glossy black finish gives a lambent look to the Sony BDP-S780 Blu-ray player and it is more compact. However, the looks of the previous version were much classier than the present one. Handling the remote is easy but the backlight is missing. There is a built-in Wi-Fi present in the Sony BDP-S780 and a fan at the back keeps the Blu-ray player cool when it is on.
You won't find a webcam in the Sony BDP-S780; however, if you do connect one to this Blu-ray player, you can enjoy both voice as well as video calling. Super Bit Mapping would enhance the quality of the videos that you see through the Blu-ray player.
