NetBlender® to be a part of Sony®
Sony Creative Software, a subsidiary of Sony Corp., has announced the takeover of NetBlender. NetBlender, founded in March 2005, specializes in Blu-ray Disc software solutions. The deal gives Sony Creative Software an exclusive ownership over NetBlender DoStudio Blu-ray authoring tools. NetBlender has a present customer base in around 31 countries across the globe. The company has produced more than 2,000 retail Blu-ray Disc titles using its authoring tools, so far. The acquisition shall help Sony to harness business opportunities and clientele related to users in production houses and departments, media groups, educational institutions, corporate sectors, cable TV businesses, Hollywood studios, independent film producers, etc.
Both the companies understand the importance of this merger. "Many Blu-ray Disc authoring tools that are priced at the prosumer level have very limited feature sets compared to enterprise or studio level applications. The DoStudio line of products bridges the gap between these platforms by offering access to many of the Blu-ray special features that provide comprehensive mastering functionality at a more reasonable price structure. The acquisition of NetBlender will allow us to continue to deliver industry-standard tools that address these issues, as well as having the resources to offer new capabilities, such as Blu-ray 3D and Custom BD-J within this new product line. We look forward to working with and supporting NetBlender's loyal customers who have come to rely on these solutions for their multimedia production needs,” Brad Reinke, Senior Vice President, Sony Creative Software said.
In another statement, John Harrington, CEO, NetBlender said, "NetBlender and Sony Creative Software share the same passion for expanding Blu-ray adoption among independent production companies and post houses worldwide. The combination of NetBlender's innovative products and Sony's market leadership will be a powerful force for encouraging growth in the Blu-ray industry."
Aware of its reputation for progressive innovation and amazing superiority, Sony fans will appreciate the deal as a strategic move from the company.
