Tips to Format Sony® Laptops
Want to format your Sony laptop? Read on.
All computers can be formatted. Formatting is a process by which all of the data on the system is completely removed and the system is made to a fresh state. There are many times when computers need to be formatted. Some of them include system getting infected with a malware, corruption of the operating system, users wanting to change the OS installed on the system etc. Even your Sony laptop can be formatted. Formatting completely removes all the traces of issues that were there on your Sony laptop. However, formatting also has some disadvantages. As formatting removes all of the data on the system, even the essential files present on the system would be removed. This includes the applications that users had installed over time. If your Sony laptop came with a genuine operating system but an installation disk was not provided with the purchase of the OS, then an original installation disk of the operating system would have to be purchased to get the system working back to ideal working state.

- Follow instructions
- Ensure power backup
Create data backup
As mentioned above, formatting Sony laptops remove all of the information on the hard disk of the system. Therefore, all Sony laptop users need to create backup of all important data on the system before formatting. The data backup must ideally contain setup files of all applications and older version drivers that might be difficult to find. The data backup must be created on a removable storage medium so that the data can be accessed from a secondary machine and that it can be easily transported if required.
Although there are no complicated procedures involved in formatting/ clean installing your Sony laptop, special care must be taken to follow all of the instructions that are displayed. Users must follow the instructions after carefully reading them and the type of format must be selected as per requirement. If only some partitions of the hard disk are being formatted, then they must be of the same format type as other partitions.
Before starting with the formatting or clean installation of Sony laptop, users must ensure that the system has adequate power backup (can be done by charging the battery). The power backup must be able to supply continuous power to the system. Power related interruptions during the format process would cause the process to abruptly stop and result in rendering the volume unusable.
